News / From prison to pulpit

A FORMER Paarlite who has transformed his life from being a criminal to a preacher, will visit Paarl on Sunday 12 February.

Rev Jonathan Clayton who lived in Charleston Hill was known as the quick schemer. He left Paarl 25 years ago because of his lifestyle of crime.

He also featured on Police File as a wanted suspect. He was apprehended in Port Elizabeth, found guilty and was sentenced to six years in prison.

During his prison term his mother died and he made a decision to change his life.

He then studied theology and today he is a Baptist National Prison Chaplain, an International Restorative Justice Facilitator and Mediator. He is also a member of the International Prison Chaplain Association (IPCA).

He and his wife Jenny, also an ordained minister, travel around the country and abroad to share their story of transformation.

On Sunday he will be a guest of the radio programme Kairos on Radio KC at 14:00 and at 17:00 he will speak at a gathering of the Lighthouse Family Church (Charleston Hill Secondary in Magnolia Street, Paarl). The theme is Family is the Cradle of Nurture. Contact Pastor Vernon Jacobs at 073 656 5995.
